How to Hard Reset the Nokia C6-01

So I got over the week a Nokia C6-01, I’ve been having a lot of problems with it and I have resolved them all but the wi-fi issue that I’m still researching on. I tried to fix the wifi issue with a Hard Reset but it didn’t resolve it, for those who want to do a hardware reset to the C6-01 follow this guide.

Note:you will lose all files and content from the memory inside the device, this method doesn’t delete files inside the Memory card but I’d recommend removing it before doing the reset.

You have to press 4 different buttons for this to work:

  1. Turn Off the device
  2. Press the Volume Down button
  3. Press the Camera Button
  4. Press the Menu Button
  5. Last step is to press the Red Power/End Call button to initiate the wipe
  6. Keep holding the four buttons until you see the Nokia Logo

When you see the welcome message it means the Hard Reset was successful.

I hope this helps some people, did it work for you?

guys do not attempt this way to reset your mobile us code *#7370#. . . . .if u use this way u will lost all the application such as ovi, map , social networking and many more apps

    • Gio Delgado says:

Nokia doesn’t recommend the method I posted but only when the phone doesn’t boot up. The ovi store, maps and social apps have to be re-downloaded ONLY by going to your phone and opening “Software Updates” any other method will install the wrong Ovi Store client causing more problems.

    • ini mini says:

Thank u so v mch Omer. it really works. just add one more point… after putting the code , cell phone ll ask for its working. press yes. screen ll be white. just wait for 3 to 4 minutes to reappear the graphics. don’t switch off the phone during the whole process otherwise it ll be seriously harmful for your set.

Guys do not do it.. use this only as a last option. It is not recommended to use the “three finger” reset (pressing volume down + camera key + menu key and pressing power button) to hard reset your Nokia Symbian^3 device. Doing this will delete some applications (Ovi Store, Ovi Maps, some preinstalled widgets) which cannot in all cases be restored.

If the device needs to be reset, try the following methods instead of the “three finger” reset:

Press down the power button for 8 seconds.
Restore the factory settings by selecting Menu > Settings > Phone > Phone management > Factory settings > Restore.
Restore the factory settings and delete all data by selecting Menu > Settings > Phone > Phone management > Factory settings > Delete data and restore. (Note that all the user files on E: mass memory and C: phone memory will be deleted with this command, e.g. the photos and videos. It is therefore important to backup the user data before using this command).

The “three finger” reset should be used only as a last resort if the device cannot be booted up in any other way. If successful, the device can be used after the reset but some of the applications are missing. To restore the missing applications and settings, you can try the following:

Select Menu > Applications > SW Update and install any updates that are available.
If Ovi Store application is successfully restored, connect to Ovi Store to search and install the missing applications.
Check also for any application updates available via Ovi Suite (plug in your device to Ovi Suite PC and go to Software Updates menu in Ovi Suite).
If any device backup is available, try restoring the data from the backup.
If the device cannot be properly restored, take it to a Nokia Care point for reflashing to get the original applications back in the device.

        Giovani,

This morning my phone seemed to be frozen. I slide the phone unlock switch, but the phone just kept staying black on the screen with the buttons lit up. So I took the battery out. When I put the batter back in, the phone won’t start anymore. It vibrates for a split seconds when I hold the on button, but that’s it. I tried the hard restart and same thing, vibrates for a second then nothing. I plugged it into my computer, and my computer makes the sound that it’s going to connect, then nothing. Any ideas?

        John

My nokia c6-01, ive had it for like a year and a half, and then yesterday it came up with disk error – could not complete write something something. And then it gave me an option to stop or retry the write. When i press either of these it just pops up again, so my phone is basically un usable. So i did this like you said, it worked, but it still pops up! Is there anything i can do? Cheers

I have a C6-01 about a year old. The bottom (menu, number dial key) and the centre (where in I can save a new number) does not work but the rest of the screen works absolutely fine. Every time I have to do any of the above thing I need to rotate the screen. It is very irritating at times as the screen does not always rotate. I had deposited the phone in the local Nokia care and they did keep it for two-three days and still the issue continues to remain.

Can anybody please find me a solution to this issue?

Thank you very much in advance.
